DNS CHECK

How to check for DNS leaks

Public IP traffic and DNS queries can follow different paths. A correct public IP region does not mean that domain lookups use the same network. This page reads GeoIP data and does not present the public IP result as a DNS test.

  1. Confirm the current public IP

    Connect to the route you want to check, then run the check above and note the public IP, location, and ISP. If the result still shows your original network, first check the client connection status and routing rules.

  2. Check your system DNS settings

    Open the detailed settings for the current network connection and see whether DNS is assigned automatically, managed by the client, or still using manually entered resolver addresses. If the browser uses its own secure DNS, check its provider separately.

  3. Compare DNS resolution paths

    If the public IP has changed but DNS still clearly points to the original network provider, check routing rules, browser secure DNS, enterprise network policies, and router settings. Corporate intranets and local domain resolution can also create expected differences.

  4. Check again after making changes

    Save the settings, disconnect, and establish the connection again, then refresh this page to confirm the public IP. DNS configuration can be affected by the operating system, browser, client, and router, so adjust one layer at a time instead of changing several settings at once.
